PRIDE of Bethel Park sent
33 team members and 5 advisors to PRIDE’s 30th World Drug
Prevention Conference from April 11-14, 2007. Team members attended
workshops and general sessions in order to learn new information in
drug prevention, acquire new performance material, and listen to
phenomenal motivational speakers. Nearly 3000 youth and adults from
across the world attended Conference 2007, creating an incredible
environment filled with a drug-free message.
One of the major things
that PRIDE of Bethel Park participates in at Conference is
showcasing new performance material in the PRIDE Challenge and
Talent Showcase events. PRIDE of Bethel Park’s skit “NEXT” received
a Second Place award in the Drama category, and BP seniors Mark
Walsh and Robert Bildstein finished in First Place in the Public
Speaking category. PRIDE of Bethel Park also took First Place in
the Website category. PRIDE of BP also showcased their newest
dance, “Move Along”, at the Talent Showcase.
PRIDE of Bethel Park also
did very well at the Awards Gala, which honors PRIDE teams for
exceptional jobs done in the previous year. Junior Jessa Koch was
the recipient of the PRIDE Community Service Outreach Award for her
work in delivering a drug-free message to the community. BP senior
Mark Walsh was one of four Youth of the Year recipients, an award
that honors PRIDE members for their overall work in delivering the
PRIDE message of a drug and violence-free lifestyle. PRIDE of
Bethel Park was also nominated for the prestigious Team of the Year
award. |
