National Red Ribbon Week is the last week of
October. Participants are encouraged to celebrate Red Ribbon Week to
symbolize their commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and to
create awareness of the problems related to the use of tobacco,
alcohol and other drugs.
For the Red Ribbon Week of 2011 the Pride Team of
Bethel Park Decorated the Home of of the Club Pride Program at
Independence Middle School. We hung posters that gave information on
the amount of people who have tried or have died from a certain
drug. This ranged from how many in a second to how many in the
amount of time for the class to end.

We also held a poster contest at the Elementary schools in the
community. the objective was for 3rd and 4th graders to draw/write
anything on a poster that they thought was creative and anti-drug
referencing. each grade competed against the same grade in each
school. In total we got 35 number of posters. The winners from each
school and grade got a gift card to Wal-mart.

To rap-up Red Ribbon Week we held a Halloween Dance at I.M.S. for
all 7th and 8th graders to attend. During the dance the kids where
encouraged to wear there costumes for judging and a prize.
