National Red Ribbon Week is the last week of October. Participants
are encouraged to celebrate Red Ribbon Week to symbolize their
commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and to create awareness
of the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other
drugs.
PRIDE assisted the staff at Independence Middle School in
planning their Red Ribbon Week. PRIDE kicked off the day with their
presentation to the student body. This was the first time PRIDE has
performed at IMS and they hope to keep up the tradition. PRIDE
presented skits with their drug and alcohol free message and
encouraged the IMS students to join them in committing to being drug
and alcohol free. PRIDE members made posters which were placed in
the classrooms reminding the students of the effects of drug and
alcohol use. PRIDE also planned a dance to show the IMS students
that you can have fun without the use of drugs and alcohol. |
