February 2013

PRIDE of Bethel Park had a busy Holiday season.

In December, a few PRIDE Members assisted the Police Pals with their Food Drives by collecting items at local grocery stores.  They noted that there were very few baby food items donated so the PRIDE Team collected jars of baby food, infant cereal and toddler foods to add to the collection.  Members also assisted with sorting the donated items in preparation for distribution to the community.

This year the team wanted to try a new holiday craft.  We usually create and decorate ginger bread houses but decided to try something new and decorate ice cream cone holiday trees.  Several PRIDE Team members got very creative as you can see from the pictures.

We also held our annual Holiday party at the home of one of our members.  We watched movies, ate and participated in a challenging but fun gift exchange.

In January, we developed a program for the 6th Grade Neil Armstrong “Just Say No” Club.  We performed for the students on January 15th.  The program included skits on the effects of drug and alcohol use, bullying, making positive choices and choosing appropriate friends.  We also played several games with the students.  We are also preparing a performance for the NAMS 5th Grade ”Just Say No” Club which will be performed on Tuesday, March 19th.

Several other fun activities held in January included an outing to Eat ‘n Park, Pottery making, a movie night and board game night.

The PRIDE Team has been busy preparing for the 36th Annual PRIDE World Drug Prevention Conference.  This year, the conference will be held from April 3rd to 5th at the Century Center in South Bend, Indiana.  The conference theme is “Be the Change”.

We would like to thank everyone who supported our concession stands at the December NAMS Jams, the Battle of the Bands and at our Chick-fil-a Spirit Night.

PRIDE of Bethel Park meets on Sunday nights at the Bethel Park Community Center from 7 to 9 pm.  If you are in the 7th to 12 grades and a resident of Bethel Park and are interested in joining our group, please contact any member or Advisor Cyndi Hogue at 412.780.0676 or email her at prideofbethelpark@gmail.com

Fall 2012

PRIDE of Bethel Park wishes to thank everyone who supported us at our Rita’s and Chick-fil-A Spirit nights and at the Homecoming Tailgate, Village Green Soccer Concessions, the Community Flea Markets and at NAMS Jams.

Members attended a Pirate Game in August, and a Hayride, Corn Maze and Fall Festival in October after our Red Ribbon Week activities.  You may have noticed the Chalk Art at the elementary and Middle Schools where members wrote positive back to school messages on the sidewalks the day before school started.  We also assisted a member with his Eagle Scout Project in October.
